Robert Schoen

Robert Schoen, PhD, ASA, JD was the inaugural Hoffman Professor of Family Sociology and Demography at The Pennsylvania State University. He has a 1972 PhD in Demography from the University of California at Berkeley and held academic positions at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Johns Hopkins University, and Penn State. His research interests include mortality, fertility, aging, and ethnic stratification, but emphasize union/family formation and dissolution and formal demography. He is the author of over 100 articles/chapters and two books on mathematical demography, MODELING MULTIGROUP POPULATIONS (1988) and DYNAMIC POPULATION MODELS (2006). As a member of the California bar, he also represents clients in the area of elder law.
