Salvatore Strozza

Salvatore Strozza is full professor in Demography at the University of Naples Federico II, vice-Director of the Department of Political Sciences. He is associated in the research activity with the Institute for Research on Population and Social Policies (IRPPS) of the National Research Council (CNR) and with International and European Forum of Migration Research (FIERI), collaborating with the Network of Excellence IMISCOE (International Migration, Integration and Social Cohesion in Europe). He is on the editorial board of two international journals: Genus and Studi Emigrazione/Migration Studies. In the periods 2006-2011 and 2014-2017, he was member of the Presidency Council of the Italian Society of Economy, Demography and Statistics (SIEDS). He is currently President of the Italian Association for the Study of Population (AISP). His main area of research is international migration and, in particular, foreign immigration in Italy. His major contributions to this field (about 200 scientific articles or chapters of books) concern the following issues: Sources and methods of measurement and estimates of the phenomenon; Realization of sample surveys for immigrants; Immigration and labor markets in the receiving country; The process of immigrants integration; Geographical distribution of foreign immigrants in Italy; The measure and the determinants of migratory intentions; Demographic consequences of international migration. He is co-author of two monographic volumes, and co-editors of fifteen thematic volumes and two monographic numbers of Studi Emigrazione/Migration Studies.
