Jeroen Spijker is Senior Research Fellow at the University of Edinburgh. His research interests include ageing, socioeconomic determinants of mortality, epidemiological transition, cohort changes in height and weight, education and marriage timing, and post-divorce and post-widowhood family formation. He received a BA in Sociology and Human Geography and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Applied Statistics from Massey University and a Masters and PhD in Spatial Sciencies (specialty Demography) from Groningen University. From 2004 to 2012 he was researcher at the Demographic Studies Center (CED) in Barcelona and where he is currently a Visting Scholar.
