Thomas Spoorenberg is Associate Population Affairs Officer at the Population Estimates and Projections Section, United Nations Population Division in New York. Prior joining the division, Thomas was visiting lecturer and researcher at the Population Teaching and Research Center, National University of Mongolia and teaching assistant at the University of Geneva. His research interests include population estimates and projections, population and development, social and anthropological demography (comprehension of demographic processes as adaptative mechanisms of local cultures and social structures) and focus mainly on Asia (Mongolia, Northeast Asia, Central Asia, India). He graduated from the University of Geneva (M.A. in Economic and Social History, Ph.D. in Demography) and from the Université catholique de Louvain (D.E.A. in Demography).
