Brief description: Demographic Research is an international, open access, online journal publishing research articles after full peer review. All journal articles are published immediately upon acceptance and made freely available. Occasionally, conference or festschrift volumes are published by Demographic Research. For these special collections, the Demographic Research editorial office sends all content through full peer-review and then additionally coordinates the papers for publication in a Special Collection. These collections of papers are assigned "supplemental volume" numbers: S1, S2, etc.

Issue Numbers: There are no issue numbers associated with Demographic Research Special Collection volumes.
Article ID: Each article in the first three Demographic Research Special Collections was assigned an alpha-numeric article ID number.
The number of articles published in each volume is listed below.
Vol. S1 (Article ID numbers: S1-1 through S1-13)
Vol. S2 (Article ID numbers: S2-1 through S2-14)
Vol. S3 (Article ID numbers: S3-1 through S3-11)
Starting with Special Collection 4 in 2005 the articles were assigned a running volume and article number keeping with standard convention. Thus material from Special Collection 4 and onwards is listed both under a special collection heading as well as in the volume in which it was first published.
To date 100 special collection articles have been published in Special Collection volumes.
Page Numbers: Page numbers have been used in all special collection volumes starting with Volume S1.
E-mail Alert service: An e-mail is sent to readers who register to be notified when new articles are published.
Archiving and Availability: All volumes are archived and available on the journal’s website at all times.
Volumes are also available through an Internet Publish-On-Demand service on a cost basis.
