Three files are found together with this ReadMe.txt file:

- The file "mltper_1x1.txt" is taken from the Human Mortality Database
and includes the Danish male period life table for single year and single age 

- The file "ICD10-4050.txt" is data taken from the World Health Organization mortality
database. It includes death counts for 17 causes of death for the Danish population
by age and sex. The causes of death data is arranged as in the Berkeley Mortality Database, 
where columns are: country code X, Year, Cause(1 to 17), Age, Female and Male. 
The causes of death are 1=total & 2 to 17 broad causes of deaths:"Infectious","CancerColon","CancerLung", 
"CancerBreast","CancerProstate","CancerOther", "OtherHeart","IschemicHeart","Cardio",
"IllDefined","Mental","Nervous", "Metabolic","Digestive","Respiratory",and "Violent" deaths.

- the file "LostYears.R" is the actual program which reads the life table and causes of death data
and returns figures and a table with the amount of life years lost until a given age


ALL three files should be included in the same folder and the instructions of "LostYears.R" should then be follow
