This text-file documents the Stata-do files in the "Stata do-files -- Blunch & Das -- Gender Education Norms in Bangladesh" zipped Stata do-file folder, which were used to create the results in: Blunch, Niels-Hugo and Maitreyi Bordia Das, "Changing Norms about Gender Inequality in Education: Evidence from Bangladesh," Demographic Research, Vol 32, Article ID: 6, 22 January, 2015, Pages: 183-218. The analysis consists of a total of four Stata do-files, as follows: (1) dataset_construction_1.do: --> This do-file creates the dataset. (2) Analysis_3_OLS.do: --> This do-file performs the education gender gap norm regressions using OLS/LPM for the estimations. (3) Analysis_3.do: --> This do-file performs the education gender gap norm regressions using probit (rather than OLS/LPM) for the estimations. (4) Analysis_4_Oaxaca.do: --> This do-file performs the Oaxaca decompositions of gender education norms between the young and the old cohort. NOTE: The data used for this analysis, originating from the World Bank Survey on Gender Norms in Bangladesh (WBGNS) 2006, is proprietary to the World Bank and we are therefore not allowed to share this with third-parties.
