Marc A. Garcia is a postdoctoral fellow in the Sealy Center on Aging at the University of Texas Medical Branch. He received his PhD in sociology from the University of Texas–Austin in 2015. His research centers broadly on health disparities across the life course. Specifically, he is interested in how race/ethnicity, nativity, gender, and key social, economic, and environmental factors shape physical health, cognitive functioning, and mortality trajectories of aging minority and immigrant groups in the United States.
