Maia Sieverding
Maia Sieverding is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Health Sciences at the American University of Beirut. She is a social demographer whose research draws on gender and life course theory to address a range of population and health issues in the Middle East and North Africa. She is particularly interested in the linkages between socioeconomic and health outcomes among women and young people. Another branch of her research is on the demography of conflict and forced migration, with a focus on marriage and fertility among refugee and other conflict-affected populations. She obtained her Ph.D. in Sociology and Demography from the University of California Berkeley in 2012.
