This is the readme file with instructions for the replicability bundle related to the paper “How Much Time Is Left? International Trends in Parenthood Expectancy” by Erich Striessnig and Alessandra Trimarchi, published in Demographic Research in 2023. The data contained in the replicability bundle are taken from the following sources: - Human Fertility Database (HFD): https://www.humanfertility.org/ - Human Fertility Collection (HFC): https://www.fertilitydata.org/ - Human Mortality Database (HMD): https://www.mortality.org/ Both HFD and HMD are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License. Access to the HFC is open and provided by the Max Planck Society for the Advancement of Science e.V.. The following files are included in the replicability bundle: 'm_HFC_TFRMAB_TOT.txt' containing mean age at birth (MAB) for men from HFC. 'MAB_f.csv' containing MAB information for women from HFD. 'HFC_TFRMAB_BO.txt' containing female MAB information from HFC for countries with very short time series in HFD. 'MAFB_f.csv' containing mean age at first birth (MAFB) for women from HFD. 'lifetabs' folder containing life tables for men and women from HMD. 'postponset.csv' containing information on onset of fertility postponement by country according to Sobotka (2004, p.53). All of these files can be read and processed using 'Article#5899.R'. Please note that the data on MAFB for French women was taken from the French National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (Insee) and could not be made available here due to licensing conditions. However, the data is available free of charge via the Insee webpage as indicated in the manuscript, via https://www.insee.fr/fr/statistiques/fichier/2668280/ip1642.xls.
