Data:
The data used for this article were provided by Statistics Sweden (SCB). These data can only be analysed within the virtual environment of SCB (MONA), and only as long as the project runs (MINQ, Forte Grant #2016-07099). Therefore, the data itself are not part of this replication file. The document Data_description.txt describes the data and the variables used.

Data preparation:
Using SQL, users with access to the SCB server can extract the data they need. The file SQL_Parents.txt contains the code to extract and build the raw data.

Data preparation and analysis:
The data were further prepared and analysed with Stata (version 16). The file ResidentialPatterns_Jan2023.do contains the code to prepare and analyse the data.
