D’Lane R. Compton is a Full Professor of Sociology at the University of New Orleans. Their two major research interests are social psychology and the demography of gender and sexuality. Their research uses both approaches to examine sexual, gender, and family inequalities and best practices in research methodology. Compton is the co-author of Same-sex Partner: The Social Demography of Sexual Orientation (SUNY 2009) and Legalizing LGBT Families: How the Law Shapes Parenthood (NYU 2016), in addition to editing numerous other volumes on gender and sexuality including Other, Please Specify _____: Queer Methods in Sociology (UC 2018).
