Arielle Kuperberg, Ph.D. is a Professor of Sociology and Associate Chair of the Department of Sociology, Anthropology and Public Health at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. She received a joint Ph.D. in sociology and demography at the University of Pennsylvania in 2010, and is author of the book Bound by BDSM (Bloomsbury, 2025). Her research examines sexual, romantic and family relationships, and changing inequalities in young adulthood. Her particular research topics include college hooking up, dating and relationships; cohabitation, marriage and divorce; BDSM practitioners; stay-at-home parents; and the transition to adulthood with student loans.
