Anthony T. Carter
Anthony T. Carter is Professor Emeritus of Anthropology at the University of Rochester. He received his PhD in Social Anthropology from Cambridge University in 1971. In 1973, he was awarded the Curl Bequest Prize of the Royal Anthropological Institute. He served as Chair of the Department of Anthropology at the University of Rochester (1986-1995), Editor of the Lewis Henry Morgan Lectures (1993-2006), and Chair of the Committee on Demography and Anthropology of the International Union for the Scientific Study of Population (1998-2002). He has done ethnographic research in Maharashtra, India (1965-1967, 1976), and in Rochester, New York (1976, 1999).
