In 2007 I received my first academic degree in the field of Demography from the University of Rostock, Germany. During my studies I developed an interest in quantitative population research and held a position as student assistant (2004–2007) at the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research (MPIDR), which provided me with practical experience. After graduation I enrolled in the European Doctoral School for Demography, hosted by the MPIDR and the Institut National d'Études Démographiques (INED) in Paris, France. From 2008 to 2012 I was enrolled as a PhD candidate in the field of Economic Demography at the University of Lund, Sweden.
Since July 2013 I have been employed as a postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Liverpool in the Department of Geography and Planning.
