James M. Raymo

James M. Raymo is a Professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Much of his research focuses on family change in Japan, with an emphasis on socioeconomic differences. Ongoing studies examine educational differences in divorce, the well-being of single mothers, and the impact of economic uncertainty on fertility. In another line of research, he examines relationships between work, family, and health at older ages in Japan and the U.S. His recent work has been published in Demography, Journals of Gerontology: Social Sciences, and Journal of Marriage and Family.
