Itzel Diaz-Juarez
Itzel Díaz Juárez is a demographer whose research examines the intersection of gender, violence, and population health. Her work applies demographic and statistical methods to understand how gender-based violence affects women’s survival and well-being in Mexico and Latin America. She holds a Master’s degree in Demography from El Colegio de México and a Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science. Her academic and professional experience has focused on measuring and analyzing violence against women from a demographic and human rights perspective. Currently, she works at INEGI (Mexico’s National Institute of Statistics and Geography), where she is responsible for statistics on violence against women. Her broader academic interests include inequalities, demographic methods, and the social determinants of mortality.
